We started our mission to end distracted driving and raise awareness about motorcycles sharing our roads with everyone we possibly could. After our first ride in 2019, Northern Michigan was on notice. Our most recent ride took place in July 2020, when 246 bikes road with us to raise awareness and honor the fallen.
In the weeks prior to our ride, we had yet to have selected a family to sponsor for our ride, and then we learned of the passing of Roger and Melanie DeVries. We knew we had to help. Their crash hit us close to home, as one of their daughters lives in Gaylord and is raising her family there.
The tragic loss to this family spoke volumes to us and we sprung into action. So did our followers, sponsors, families, and many more! A total of 246 bikes gathered on July 25th, 2020, to ride in memory and in honor of Roger and Melanie.
Both of their daughters rode with us across the Mackinac Bridge and throughout Northern Michigan, paying tribute to their mother and father. We are honored to have been a part of their lives and look forward to many years of friendship with them.
Thank you to all who turned out this year. We can't wait to see you in 2021!
When Todd was killed by a distracted driver, we took action. Through our 2019 event, we raised nearly $20,000, and donated half of the proceeds to Todd's family to help them through their toughest times. The other half went to ABATE of Michigan for billboards regarding distracted driving and motorcycles.
